Art Obscura Gallery

Las Cruces is home to many art galleries, but none are quite as out-of-the-ordinary as Art Obscura (hence the name).  In stark contrast to the expensive galleries & ‘fine-arts’ crowds of Sante Fe, Art Obscura is a place for the locals and the Las Cruces Craftspeople.  In a world obsessed with productivity and becoming big, they remind us why we make art.

The Art Obscura main gallery is a full-on creative space; with shows and events taking place year round, from poetry, to music, to paintings, and more!  A new exhibition is hung in both the tiny room and the main gallery every second Saturday of the month, and even those who are active in the Las Cruces art community will find amazing new artists from town!

Located upstairs is a beautiful gallery, home to original pieces done by amazing local artists such as Christina Ballew and Jess Reinhard, just to name a few of my favorites.  These one-of-a-kind original art pieces are for sale to the public, as well as all of the other interesting knick knacks and curios.

You never know what you’ll find over at Art Obscura at any given time of the year, making the experience entirely new and exciting almost every visit!  You’ll find old-time southwestern artists around the shop, as well as budding young fans fresh with excitement, and everything in between. No matter how odd or obscure you might feel, I promise you’ll fit right in here.

The Art Obscura Gallery is located at 3206 Harrelson Road, and is open from 10:00AM to 7:00PM Thursday-Saturday, and 11:00AM to 4:00PM on Sunday.
