Jabari Rice had a career high 29 points for the Aggies Saturday but none more important than his last second 3-pointer to win the game. NMSU extends it’s streak to 15 games with the 84 – 82 win over Utah Valley with the dramatic win. The Aggies were trailing by a point, when Rice got an assist from Evan Gilyard with one second left on the clock and sank the 3-pointer that won the game and caused the crowd to erupt as fans and cheerleaders joined the players as they celebrated.
The court had to be cleared as there was still 00.6 of a second left to play on the game clock.
The Aggies got balanced scoring to beat the Wolverines for the second time this season with 4 players in double figures, Jabari Rice led the way with 29 points to go along with his 8 rebounds, Evan Gilyard had 13, Ivan Aurrecoechea added 18 and Johnny McCants had an all-around good game with 11 points, six rebounds and five assists. Isaiah White had a good game in a losing effort with 21 points for Utah Valley.
NMSU (21-6, 12-0 in WAC Conference) will play next Saturday at home against Rio Grande Valley and Utah Valley (9-17, 3-8) gets Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday.
