Las Cruces citizen Sgt. 1st Class Antonio Rodriguez will be remembered forever as a hero.
On Saturday February 8th, 2020, Sgt. Rodriguez was involved in a firefight in the eastern Afghanistan province of Nangarhar. 6 U.S. soldiers were wounded, and 2 U.S. soldiers were killed; Sgt. 1st Class Javier J. Gutierrez and Sgt. 1st Class Antonio Rodriguez.
Las Cruces honors Sgt. Antonio Rodriguez as a hero for both our community and our country. Rodriguez was deployed for the defense of his country ten times; in the 75th Ranger Regiment as well as the 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group.
